Prisons in Haiti are overcrowded and underfunded. This, coupled with a 5-year long judicial crisis in the country, has created some of the worst overcrowding that Haiti’s prisons have ever seen. Less than 40% of prisoners have gone before a judge and been tried for a crime. Many in prison have been imprisoned for years without formally being charged with a crime. We have found many inmates that are hungry for the Gospel and are very faithful in attending our weekly church services within the prisons. The physical needs within the prison remain a focus as well. We are providing food weekly to 1,050 inmates and helping in other prisons by supplying food as funds have allowed.
By supporting this cause, you are essentially fostering a community-driven solution to the challenges faced by those in prison. Your donation facilitates collaboration between local churches, pastors, and the incarcerated population, creating a network of support that goes beyond mere awareness. It actively engages communities in the process of rehabilitation and reintegration, recognizing the transformative power of mentorship and the positive impact it can have on the lives of those seeking guidance.
Supporting this cause through donation is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of young people within the prison system. Our vision is that this education not only equips these individuals with valuable skills but also serves as a catalyst for breaking the cycle of poverty and crime.
Furthermore, your support ensures the basic needs of these young individuals are met, including access to food, water, medicine, and hygiene products. These essentials are fundamental to their well-being and contribute to creating a more humane and dignified environment within the prison system.
